Pilot Port Untangler

The problem is well known among pilots: AIS Pilot Ports onboard are quite often inoperational due to faulty wiring. If the cabling onboard is wired incorrectly, the data at the AIS Pilot Port in not available. And captains do not care because not every pilot uses the AIS Pilot Port.....

To come up with a solution for this problem, we have developed the Pilot Port Untangler.

With the Pilot Port Untangler, the two most common problems can be fixed: Rx and Tx-side interchanged, and Tx(A) and Tx(B) (polarity) interchanged. With the two switches of the Pilot Port Untangler and the small two-color LED it is only a matter of seconds two enable correct reception of AIS data through the Pilot Plug. Just switch until the LED flashes green and you will be able to receive AIS data.

However, the Pilot Port Untangler allows only the reception of data from the transponder, but not sending data from the pilots laptop to the transponder as most pilots do not need this. And if all five cables of the AIS Pilot Port installation are tangled, only the ship's electrician's screwdriver can fix this...

And of course this device has all the fault-detecting capabilities as our Pilot Port Quick Test. The Pilot Port Untangler is compatible with the Bluetooth Pilot Plug and the USB Pilot Plug from Y-tronic. For use with AIS Pilot Plugs from other manufacturers please contact us and we will supply you with a customized version without extra costs.
