1. I receive AIS data, but I don't see anything on the screen?

   AIS data can only be displayed on the screen, if a GPS transmitting $GPRMC is connected.
   

2. What do the different AIS message ID's signify?

   The AIS data is transmitted in 24 different message ID's according to the content:

   • 1, 2, 3: Position Report of Class A (SOLAS) vessels.
   • 4: Base Station Report
   • 5: Ship Static and Voyage Related Data from Class A vessels
   • 6: Binary Adressed (Text-) Message
   • 7: Binary Acknowledgement*
   • 8: Binary Broadcast (Text-) Message
   • 9: Standard SAR Aircraft Position Report
   • 10: UTC/Date Inquiry*
   • 11: UTC/Date Response*
   • 12: Adressed Saftey Related (Text-) Message
   • 13: Safety Related Acknowledgement*
   • 14: Broadcast Safety Related (Text-) Message
   • 15: Interrogation
   • 16: Assignment Mode Command*
   • 17: DGNSS Correction Data*
   • 18: Standard Class B (non-SOLAS) Position Report
   • 19: Extended Class B (non-SOLAS) Position Report

     All message ID's marked with "*" are only for internal management of the AIS system and are not decoded by Yacht-AIS.
